SOUTH WALES EVENING POST SWANSEA Monday 12th October 2015 Going Bananas ... Alan Gregg inspecting the progress of a banana flower as fruits begin to appear in Singleton Botanical Gardens. Alan says that due to the sustained warmth of the indian summer, the ornamental banana plant (Musa basjoo) is producing more flowers than in previous years... and more flower mean more fruit! However as the plant is ornamental the fruit is not edible - in previous year visitors have thought to take the fruit but it is most definately not for eating.
